Due to to the tragic incident in Aurora, Colorado Friday morning, many people have rethought their plans to go see the epic conclusion to the Batman trilogy. I'm here to tell you that you need to go to the movies. I'm going to go. In fact, everyone should go.
Going to the movies is one of America's favorite past times. Heck, I'd debate right behind baseball, it's a close first. Nothing is quite as fun as jamming the family in the minivan or the friends in the car and heading down to the multiplex, overpaying on food, and sitting in the dark for two hours enjoying the latest flick. Don't let one sicko change that!
This was a horrible tragedy, yes. But it could have happened anywhere. Let's be honest: I have just as much chance of this happening to me in the street or the mall as I do in the theater. That's why we can't let people and isolated incidents like this scare us away from life. A lot of people online have been saying, "Go, or he wins!" It has nothing to do with winning or losing. It has to do with the fact of whether or not you're going to let this man dictate your life. We can't let fear dictate how we live our lives.
I know that Batman is going to take a hit this weekend when otherwise it would have likely been giving "Avatar" or it's predecessor a run for their money in... money? It's supposed to be really great too! I've heard it's the best of the three! So as a nation, let's show this man that he isn't going to scare us away from something we as Americans have loved for nearly a hundred years now. Let's go to the movies.
